Jacqueline An
Juyung Jacqueline An was born and raised in Daegu, South Korea until the age of
nine when her family immigrated to Toronto, Canada. In 1993, she entered law
school and specialized in trial advocacy.
In 1998, she was called to the bar and immediately established a private law practice which dealt exclusively with
criminal law. From the start of her practice, she represented with a wide
variety of criminal charges, such as drug trafficking, homicide, assault and the
like. Over her 14 years of practice, she conducted hundreds of jury trials,
constitutional challenges, judge-alone trials and various appeals.
Jacqueline An has represented majority of Jacqueline An has represented majority of high profile Korean criminal cases in
the Korean community. She is active within the Korean community as a lawyer and
advisor on Korean community matters. She has been profiled as a criminal lawyer
panelist on Korean and Canadian legal television shows, newspapers and
magazines. More recently, she was profiled in South Korea, SBS-Network “ Want to
know More” documentary on her Korean gang rape/cult case on April 10, 2010.
Jacqueline An is the President of KOWIN, Toronto Chapter( Korean Women’s
International Network) and vice-president of Canada KOWIN. She was the Vice
President of FACL (Federal Asian Canadian Lawyers), Gala Chair and Scholarship
chair. She has served as the Vice President of KCWA (Korean Canadian Women’s
Association) for many years She was also a legal advisor for the Ontario Tae
Kwon Do Association (OTA) for two years. She was also the legal advisor to the
Korean Consul General for many years.
Jacqueline An is a 3rd Dan in Tae Kwon Do and by this year she will be
attaining 4th Dan or Master in Tae Kwon Do. She has won four gold medals in
sparring in Tae Kwon Do competitions. She has received a distinction by The Law
Society of Upper Canada as “exceptional Ontario lawyer of Korean Heritage” in
2010.
