Role Of The Executive
President The President is responsible for ensuring that the Board of Directors and its members:
  • are aware of and fulfill their governance responsibilities
  • comply with applicable laws and bylaws
  • conduct board business effectively and efficiently
  • are accountable for their performance

The President ensures that an agenda is planned for board meetings, presides over meetings of the Board of Directors, ensures that Board members are conducting their Board business accordingly and as per the bylaws and performs other duties as the need arises and/or as defined in the bylaws.

The President ensures that the organization maintains positive and productive relationships with media, funders, donors, and other organizations. In this capacity, the President serves as primary spokesperson for the organization. S/he is also automatically appointed as co-chair of the Fundraising Committee.

Vice President (Operations) The VP (Operations) is responsible for:
  • coordinating and ensuring that the operations and day to day needs of FACL are being met
  • focusing on long-term growth of FACL, including country-wide membership initiatives
  • assisting the President with relationship building
  • working closely with the Communications & Membership committee which oversees the maintenance of FACL’s website & the publication of FACL’s newsletters.

Vice President (Fundraising)

The VP (Fundraising) is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing all fundraising activities in support of FACL’s programs and initiatives . The VP (Fundraising) also develops a strategy for organizing an annual fundraising event. S/he is also automatically appointed as co-chair of the Fundraising Committee.

Vice President (Associations)

The VP (Associations) is responsible for maintaining communications to other like minded organizations and coordinating the sharing of information to respective members about each group’s activities. The VP (Associations) also works in collaboration with other like-minded organizations on joint projects, activities and/or initiatives.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for overseeing the organization’s finances and budget. The Treasurer administrates fiscal matters of the organization, provides an annual budget to the Board for members' approval and ensures that memberships are paid in full.

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for ensuring that accurate and sufficient documentation exists to meet legal requirements, and to enable authorized persons to determine when, how, and by whom the Board's business was conducted. The Secretary records minutes of meetings, ensures their accuracy and availability, ensures that the records of the organization are maintained as required by law and made available when required by authorized persons, submits various reports to the board, and performs other duties as the need arises and/or as defined in the bylaws.
